Monday Motivation: The Ultimate Collection of Baby Steps

Good morning! I hope you are working on establishing a morning ritual that works for you. It's Monday so that means a video blog post answering the questions I get sometimes about my diet and workout plan.

Okay, y'all I did the work for you. Here's the Blue Zones Ted Talk:

Here's the link to the website for more info: https://communities.bluezonesproject.com/

Here's your pinnable reminder from the website:

Want to know more about the concept of Ikigai? This is one I think most Americans neglect and really need to work on adopting. Here's the definition straight from Wikipedia:

The word ikigai is usually used to indicate the source of value in one's life or the things that make one's life worthwhile. Secondly, the word is used to refer to mental and spiritual circumstances under which individuals feel that their lives are valuable. It's not necessarily linked to one's economic status or the present state of society. Even if a person feels that the present is dark, but they have a goal in mind, they may feel ikigai. Behaviours that make us feel ikigai are not actions which we are forced to take—these are natural and spontaneous actions.

In the article named Ikigai — jibun no kanosei, kaikasaseru katei ("Ikigai: the process of allowing the self's possibilities to blossom") Kobayashi Tsukasa says that "people can feel real ikigai only when, on the basis of personal maturity, the satisfaction of various desires, love and happiness, encounters with others, and a sense of the value of life, they proceed toward self-realization."

I know some of you are doing many of these things already. Comment and let me know which things you need to work on. I'm constantly working on all of them but this weekend, the food related ones posed the biggest challenge.

If we veer off the path, we don't beat ourselves up. We just gently take up our baby steps again.

XOXO

  1. I put the Blue Zone on hold at the library. I think I get hung up on eating for comfort. Looking for ways to provide compassion for a busy day is my sticking point.

    1. That's great, Busy B! I think you'll enjoy it so much. It's filled with stories that are encouraging because all of the things are doable. It is a great fresh perspective with the added benefit of being proven! Let me know what you think!
